Short Description
Poredbeno pomorsko pravo (PPP) = Comparative Maritime Law (CML) is a peer-reviewed open access law journal published annually by the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Zagreb, Croatia). The journal is the key periodical in the field of maritime law and the law of the sea in Croatia, but also in the region. It has an international editorial board and all the articles are peer reviewed by the leading local and foreign experts and academics.
From the begining (in 1950s) the aim of this periodical publication was to offer solutions for the academic, professional and practical problems of maritime law; propose rules of maritime trade and transport law; provide current information on legal instruments in the field of maritime economy and international trade.
It covers all topics of international, domestic and comparative maritime and shipping law, transport law and the international law of the sea. It is focused on publishing academic and professional articles, professional translations of the international legal instruments and documentation, digests of the leading domestic, foreign and international court and arbitral decisions, book reviews, reports from the relevant meetings, conferences, symposia and similar events.
The materials are published in Croatian or English language.
There were some changes during the journal's history:
- In the title: Uporedno pomorsko pravo i pomorska kupoprodaja = Comparative Maritime Law and Commerce (1958-1988), Uporedno pomorsko pravo = Comparative Maritime Law (1989-1996), and since 1997 is: Poredbeno pomorsko pravo = Comparative maritime law (* only linguistic difference, in Croatian) ;
- the international standard number: (1984 - 1990): ISSN 0352-4949; (1991-1996): ISSN 0353-5487; from No. 153/154 : ISSN 1331-9914 ; and e-ISSN: 1848-8927 ;
- periodicity: initially there was a quarterly period, then several double and quadrupled appearances, and since 2001 it is an annual.
But there was always a constant and high quality profile of authors, reviewers and associates.
