PANAMA: Incoming independent deputies to renounce perks
On 14 May the newly named Bancada Independiente Vamos (Vamos) of 20 independent legislators-elect issued a statement saying that they would renounce various perks upon taking up their seats in Panama’s 71-member unicameral legislature on 1 July.

ARGENTINA: Gov’t bullish as monthly inflation drops to single digits
On 14 May Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) released April’s inflation figures, showing monthly inflation slowed for the fourth consecutive month and dropped into single digits for the first time since President Javier Milei took office in December.
