The third period of the Synthesis of Systematic Resoursces (SYNTHESYS) finished this year. The project, which was funded by the 7th Framework Programme of the European Union and realised within the consortium of 20 natural history collection holding institutes, has actually been running for 13 years and one of its main aim was to provide access to the natural history research infrastructures and intellectual capital for all of the experties of the European Research Area (ERA). The Hungarian Natural History Museum has participated in the Access and Network Activites programmes of SYNTHEYS since the beginning. At this moment, another renewed project with extended aims is being worked out under the name SYNTHESYS+. Provided that the consorcium receives support again from the European Union, the SYNTHEYS+ will be launched in 2019. Our purpose of this article is to emphasize the importance of being part of the SYNTHESYS project as well as to draw the attention to the opportunities of tenders that help several significant taxonomic research being funded.
