This article will give a brief description of the art of arnis or eskrima, also known as Filipino Martial Arts or FMA which is currently being practiced in different parts of the world like the United States of America and Europe. Arnis practitioners learn how to use weapons first, such as an arnis stick before being taught how to use those movements for the "empty hands techniques" or the way to defending one's self without the use of weapon such as an arnis stick. Based from the author's experience in learning arnis, the paper will show the concepts that mold the movements of the body and the manipulation of the weapons. Emphasis will be given on an arnis or eskrima system that is based on bladed weapons such as an itak, also known as "blade-based' or "blade art." In particular, the article will discuss the (a) classificaton of arnis, (b) story of how the author learned to use the itak or sword (c) angles of striking and footwork, (d) quality and description of the itak or sword and the "proper" way to use it, (e) how to use the art of arnis even if you don't have sticks or sword, and (f) conceptualizing about identity as an arnisador in a specific system using the topics that was mentioned above.
