However, this is not the driving point for Bond; while Bond does not ignore the importance of the Church in the movement, he focuses more on the leaders and their respective organizations than he does the role of the overall Church in the movement. Bond also mentions women's important roles in the Civil Rights movement that not many Civil Rights literature covers. Bond also fills in nuance about the battle with the Kennedy administration in general that the Civil Rights Movement, and in doing so he once again shatters misconceptions and oversimplifications of the movement.
