A 12-year-old girl experienced acute drug toxicity after accidentally chewing an overdose of oxybutynin extended-release pills for nocturnal enuresis and taking diphenhydramine for allergic rhinitis. She presented with symptoms such as headache, confusion, hallucinations, blurry vision, emesis, sinus tachycardia, and dry mouth. The girl was admitted to the hospital and her symptoms gradually resolved after approximately 60 hours. The acute drug toxicity was attributed to a pharmacodynamic interaction between diphenhydramine and oxybutynin, as well as an accidental overdose of oxybutynin due to chewing the extended-release pills. She responded well to treatment and was discharged home. [Extracted from the article]
