A 72-year-old man with metastatic prostate cancer and renal dysfunction experienced oversedation and respiratory depression after overdosing on oxycodone and experiencing a drug-drug interaction with dexamethasone, palonosetron, and fosaprepitant. The man had been receiving various treatments for his prostate cancer, including degarelix and abiraterone. He was admitted to the hospital for pain in the anal region and received tramadol and fentanyl for pain relief. The dose of oral oxycodone was increased, and he was readmitted to the hospital after a week. After receiving antiemetic therapy with dexamethasone, palonosetron, and fosaprepitant, he became excessively sleepy and experienced decreased breathing rate. It was determined that he had overdosed on oxycodone and experienced oversedation and respiratory depression due to the drug-drug interaction. His respiratory condition improved after reducing the dose of oxycodone infusion, and he was eventually discharged from the hospital without any issues. [Extracted from the article]
