The purpose of this study is to ascertain the differences in the attitude to innovativeness between bureaucratic and non-bureaucratic hotel organisations. We defined as bureaucratic the organisations establishing standards. For this purpose we first defined basic terminology such as hotel idustry, innovativeness and bureaucracy, general, and of tourism and the hotel industry. We also pointed out that the government is aware of the importance of innovativeness in the hotel industry and tourism, whence a number of measures are introduced. In the empirical part, using statistical methods, such as the descriptive analysis and the Bonferroni test, we established that there are no statistically significant differences between bureaucratic and non-bureaucratic organisations with regard to innovativeness. In this way, by using a scientific method, we rejected the often misinterpreted opinion on the negative influence of bureaucracy on innovativeness in the hotel industry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
Univerza na Primorskem, Slovenija Z raziskavo smo želeli ugotoviti razlike v odnosu do inovativnosti med birokratskimi in nebirokratskimi hotelskimi organizacijami. Kot birokratske smo označili tiste organizacije, ki upoštevajo dolo čene standarde. V ta namen smo najprej opredelili osnovno terminologijo: hotelirstvo, inovativnost in birokracija na splošno in v turizmu ter hotelirstvu. Izpostavili smo še, da se tudi vlada Republike Slovenije zaveda pomena inovativnosti v turizmu in hotelirstvu, zato na tem področju izvaja številne ukrepe. V empiričnem delu smo z uporabo statisti čnih metod, kot sta deskriptivna analiza in Bonferronijev test, ugotovili, da statisti čno značilnih razlik pri inovativnosti med birokratskimi in nebirokratskimi hotelskimi organizacijami ni. Tako smo z uporabo znanstvenih metod ovrgli pogosto napačno mnenje o negativnem vplivu birokracije na inovativnost v hotelirstvu. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
