The article focuses on a debate on whether university libraries should be open to the public in China. The public has supported the initiative of Capital Library Alliance, which was established in March 2012, to allow their access to several university libraries free of charge. However, some university students and teachers expressed their concerns regarding the possibility of invasion of limited book resources affecting normal study and life of students.
