A biography of William Louis Veeck Sr., a journalist, baseball writer and president of the Chicago Cubs, a baseball club of the 1920s and 1930s, is presented. Veeck Sr. was born on January 20, 1877 in Evansville, Indiana to Dutch parents. His first job as a young boy was selling newspapers and at a later age became a sportswriter where he put his knowledge of baseball to good use. This article narrates the rise of his career from being a sportswriter until he became a baseball executive.
