The article presents a case study of a game-ranched elk who was diagnosed for Johne's disease (JD) upon postmortem examination in February 2012 supported by histological examination and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). A first suspicion of JD was noted in elk farm in Alberta in 2009 when animals developed diarrhea. The fecal polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and serum enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) tests were initiated following outbreak of Johne's disease.
