Along with the 'erosion of standard work arrangements', the qualities demanded of leadership positions have also changed. Globalization, changes in values, culture, technology, work contents and human resources policies focusing on diversity and equal opportunity have contributed to the emergence of flexible work models. These models include working time solutions from flex and part time to mobile and remote work. This paper aims to systematically record flexible working arrangements and explore existing research on the usage of these models, especially in top management. The objective of the analysis is a better implementation of these models in management positions. It has been found that companies offer more flexible working arrangements to managers than are actually utilised by top managers due to a number of underlying problems discussed in the paper. This applies more to working time reduction (for example part time or job sharing arrangements) than to chronological working time solutions like flexi time or trust based working hours. The examined studies show the positive impact of flexible work models on work-life balance and the reconciliation of work and family life for managers. Stalled careers and a lack of role models are seen as major obstacles that hinder the use of flexible models. The international comparison shows Germany's prevailing lag in both research and implementation of flexible models. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
