During World War I propaganda was employed on a global scale. It was the first war in which mass media and propaganda played a significant role, not only the classical means, but also photography and cinema. When the war broke out, the k. k. Kriegspressequartier (KPQ) was created, in order to coordinate activities linked to propaganda. Transylvania, as a part of Austria-Hungary, fought on the side of the Central Powers, but the means of visual propaganda employed in this province were quite poor compared to other parts. Some Transylvanian painters, such as Hans Eder (1883-1955) and Ludwig Hesshaimer (1872-1956), were members of the art group of the Kriegspressequartier and created impressive art works showing war scenes. Other artists, especially ladies and those who hadn't enlisted in the army, depicted scenes showing the misery of civilians, especially of widows and orphans. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
In timpul Primului Räzboi Mondial, taberele beligerante au pus in mi^care o imensä ma?inärie propagandisticä, care a folosit toate mijloacele cunoscute, inclusiv fotografia $i filmul. Chiar in ziua izbucnirii räzboiului (28 iulie 1914) a luat fiinfä k.k.
