Colonial attitudes and practices have shaped intra-European history, too, but have long been neglected in memory and research. A case in point is the asymmetrical relationship between Prussia and Poland in the 19th century. The articles in this thematic issue discuss the Prussian appropriation of Polish territories with an emphasis on the period of the German Kaiserreich, explore various aspects of colonial hegemony in the Eastern provinces of Prussia, and underscore the need for a critical entangled history of Prussia and Poland.
