Menopause is a natural part of aging that affects all women, typically occurring around age 50. However, women living with HIV may experience menopause earlier. Menopause symptoms include hot flushes, night sweats, urinary tract infections, depression, and more. Women with HIV who experience untreated menopause symptoms are at a greater risk of cardiovascular disease. Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT) can be used to alleviate symptoms, and there are various types of MHT available that are safe for women with HIV. It is important for women with HIV to consult with their healthcare providers to determine the appropriate treatment for their specific needs. [Extracted from the article]
