Cardiac imaging plays a key role in the evaluation of a patient suspected of having arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy/dysplasia (ARVC/D). Global or regional abnormalities of right ventricular (RV) structure and function are an important component of the Task Force of the Working Group on Cardiomyopathies diagnostic criteria [1]. The criterion for RV structure and function currently lacks quantitative cut points for clinicians to use when facing the study of an individual suspected of ARVC/D. Moreover, the ability to correctly categorize individuals at risk for ARVC/D, such as family members of affected individuals or those who may have a subclinical form of the disease, is limited by the lack of a gold standard for the diagnosis of ARVC/D. Additionally, the echocardiographic natural history of the disease has not yet been defined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
