The article discusses the difference between business ethics in for profit and non-profit or not-for-profit organizations (NFP). It explores the characteristics and nature of ethical thinking of NFP organizations in which members join together in order to benefit others outside the group and enhanced revenue do not contribute to the wealth of individual members. It notes the concepts of business ethics in the for-profit world and the tax policy and wealth consumption in NFPs which are significantly more communal and less individualistic than businesses. It also notes that ethics in businesses should be essentially contract-based while NFP should be essentially rule-based.
