The article discusses a study which determined the efficacy of type III secreted protein (TTSP) vaccine in decreasing shedding of calves that are experimentally infected with Escherichia coli (E. coli) O157:H7. It mentions that E. coli infection is dangerous to humans which is associated with various food products including water. Results showed that TSSP stimulate the production of serum antibodies against EspA and Tir which leads to significant priming of the cattle's immune system. TSSP vaccinated cattle shed significantly less than placebo subjects.
