Namen osmih življenjskih pripovedi je na oseben in dramatičen način pokazati, da so preproste in enoznačne delitve, klasifikacije, opredelitve in razporeditve ljudi krivične in nepotrebne. Metodološko bistvo knjige je spominjati se in pripovedovati ter na ta način ponuditi dokaze o pluralnosti, raznovrstnosti in raznolikosti, večjezičnosti in medkulturnosti naše družbe. Spomini in pripovedi kažejo bogastvo in kompleksnost konstituiranja identitet posameznikov v vsakodnevnem stiku, komunikaciji in srečevanju. Življenjske zgodbe utelešajo spomine na pot, ki pripelje do odgovora na vprašanje, kdo si. Odgovori, zapisani v pripovedih, pa bodo bralcu in bralki ponovno zastavili vprašanje, kdo pa sem jaz.
