Many studies have suggested that Millennials have superior technolgy skills and intelligence. A study of the use of electronic resources and Web 2.0 tools by students at Mohawk College provides insight as to the research practices and habits and literacy skills of this user group. Contrary to popular opinion, the study indicates that this 'Net Generation' is not as technologically savvy as frequently reported in the literature. The study concludes that library instruction should include technical skills direction. In particular, familiarity with RSS, social bookmarking, spreadsheet and presentation software, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash is lacking among Millennials. Secondarily, the report recommends that Departmental Faculty set high expectations for information/technology literacy in the classroom.
