This second edition of Introducing RDA was published by ALA Editions, publisher of the American Library Association in 2021. Its author, Christine Oliver, is Head of Metadata and Process at the University of Ottawa Library, a member of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations and the Governing Board of the RDA (RDA Board). Eleven years after the first edition of this classic work of bibliography specialized in the standard of RDA (Resources, Description and Access) cataloging, there have been many changes both in the theoretical model that supports it, as in the standard itself and in the RDA Toolkit. These transformations are materialize in the RDA Toolkit through the 3R Project (RDA Toolkit Restructure and Redesign Project) that begins in 2017 and culminates with the activation of the official version of the RDA Toolkit, fully aligned with the unified theoretical model IFLA LRM (Library Reference Model), on December 15, 2020. The 3R Project represents a turning point for the RDA Toolkit, as it really introduces changes significant compared to the original version that was available since 2010. It presents a design totally different, with a new organization, with changes in vocabulary and new features. So, this second edition of Introducing RDA “after 3R” is a valuable guide for both RDA users. Experienced original RDA Toolkit as well as beginners; since its author retains a clear style and precise with updated examples that allow discovering the main features of the official version of the RDA Toolkit and navigate in its new structure.
