This document sets out the work programme of audits and analysis of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety for 2016. It contains a detailed description of its audit programme in the areas of food and feed safety, food quality, animal health, animal welfare and plant health and an outline of its programme of audits and assessments in the human health area. In addition, it provides details of desk-based control activities and activities to further promote sound regulatory practices in the implementation of controls in all of these areas, as well as a short report on the execution of the audit programme 2014. (This programme was in previous years issued as the work programme of the Food and Veterinary Office. Following a recent re-organisation of DG Health and Food Safety, the Directorate formerly known as the FVO has been renamed "Health and food audits and analysis".)
