What factors create this sense of European citizenship? Do they know their rights as European citizens? Do they want more information on this subject? § The openness of Europeans to others, in particular to the citizens and cultures of other Member States; § Languages: Do Europeans think it is important to learn a language other than their mother tongue? Why? § Values: what values do Europeans most readily associate with the European Union? What values matter to them personally? Are there values that are common to Europeans? § The future of today’s children in the European Union: will the lives of today’s children be easier or more difficult than those of previous generations? The full Standard Eurobarometer 84 report consists of several volumes. The first volume presents the state of public opinion in the European Union (EU). Three other volumes present the views of Europeans on other issues: the EU’s priorities, European citizenship and media use in the European Union. This volume is devoted to European citizenship
