Zugriff:
As early as Ur III the writing of Akkadian tends to a differentiation of voiceless and voiced stops as it is the rule later in Babylonia and with some delay in Assyria as well. All indications of a writing reform like a sudden beginning, short time of transformation and a coherent result are missing. The development can be explained by the shift of the Sumerian consonants to the Semitic pattern or a sort of convergence between Sumerian and Akkadian.
