Sociolinguistic trends on the U.S.-Mexican border

L'ouvrage rend compte de la situation sociolinguistique de la frontière entre le Mexique et les Etats Unis. Trois régions sont examinées: = l'aire urbanisée et industrialisée du Comté de San Diego, = l'aire semi-urbaine de Tucson, Arizona, = l'aire d'El Paso, Nouveau Mexique. Si ces régions montrent des étapes de développement différentes, elles ont en commun plusieurs caractéristiques: la proximité géographique du Mexique, une immigration mexicaine importante, un contact social intense.
